Image: 3mth old weimaraner puppy
[edit]The picture of the 3mth old puppy and the note underneath it should have the word blue removed. This puppy looks like a regular silver/grey weimaraner, and not a blue one. If you search for blue weimaraners they are generally darker in colour. If its meant to refer to the colour of the pups eyes, it needs to be reworded.
Grand Duke Karl August of Weimar
[edit]The description of the picture of Grand Duke Karl August of Weimar should include the race of the dog.--95.91.183.13 (talk) 15:18, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
References
[edit]I've done a bit of cleaning up of this page. I'm thinking of trying to doing a bit more to it, including adding some proper independent reliable sources, expanding the text and editing for neutral encyclopaedic tone. If I were to do so I would change the reference format to the list-defined system – references defined in the reference section, not in the text – and to hand-written refs (without cite templates). I'll probably do that in a day or two if no-one minds, but will of course leave well alone if there's any objection. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Justlettersandnumbers (talk • contribs) 22:32, 13 April 2024 (UTC)
Not suitable as a companion dog?
[edit]I've shared my life with two Weimaraners.Although excellent gun dogs that need a lot of exercise, they are incredibly loyal family dogs. Excellent with children and outstanding companions... in Australia we call them valcro dogs, because they stick to their favourite humans. Do a bit more research and fix your article. 118.208.177.65 (talk) 11:49, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- The claim it isn't suitable as a companion dog is made by a German breed club, I can't read German but google translate says 'He is not a companion dog, but a hunting dog through and through. As such, he needs work in a practical hunting business to preserve his balanced being.” And one is consistent: the Weimaraner-Klub e.V. gives its puppies primarily to hunters.'
- Based on my experience as well as evidence from studies I do not believe any type of working dog can be unsuitable for a companion dog, it may be too large for life in a tenement or something, but the idea that a dog can not behaviourally adapt to a household lifestyle based on it's genetics/breed is an outdated myth.
