CKCO in Windsor
[edit]The article says that CKCO's viewing area is most of Southwestern Ontario, except Essex County and Windsor. However, if one looks at the template for TV in the Detroit/Windsor market, CKCO is listed under the Canadian television channels, which would probably mean that it IS available in Windsor.
Can anyone explain this? -- Gujuguy 05:20, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
- CKCO is NOT available in Windsor by terrestrial antenna and is out of range for the Sarnia transmitter on Ch.42. Saying that, the whole east side of Detroit is closer to Sarnia and its transmitter than Windsor or Essex County thus it can be included in the Detroit/Windsor market. CKCO is available on Ch.13 Cable as stated and the viewer will see commericals from Windsor businesses directed to the Windsor/Essex market on the station. I should add though that Cable TV subscriber rates are among the lowest in Canada in the Windsor area at I believe under 50% of homes. (Check CRTC) because of a combination of a plethora of terrestial stations (over 20 available) combined with a huge ownership of grey market satellite dishes.

- Additionally, the Detroit Free Press television listings include CKCO 42. Mjlarochelle 02:36, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
Port Huron, which is directly across the river from Sarnia, is considered part of the Detroit TV market. So even though Windsor doesn't receive CKCO, the station is available in other parts of the Detroit market. Bearcat (talk) 20:47, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:CKCO3 1977.png
[edit]Image:CKCO3 1977.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Image copyright problem with Image:CTV logo.svg
[edit]The image Image:CTV logo.svg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.

List of on-air staff
[edit]Lists of people must meet the criteria listed at WP:LISTPEOPLE. This isn't the first station article this has been discussed on, nor will it be the last. Articles have been protected to prevent these additions, or the editors in question blocked when they persistently continue to reinsert inappropriate material. If a name is included in the article in this way, it has to show that it's relevant to the subject by meeting WP:LISTPEOPLE. Just because a station lists its employees doesn't mean Wikipedia needs to as well, and other station articles needing similar cleanup doesn't mean this one doesn't need to be cleaned up, because whenever it's actually discussed on a station article, the end result is the same; the names that don't meet WP:LISTPEOPLE are removed. Wikipedia is also not a directory. See here, here, and here for previous discussions about this. I'm not sure why WP:LISTPEOPLE would not be appropriate like User:Unscintillating said, but he must have a pretty darn good reason as to why it doesn't apply here. - I have asked User:Corkythehornetfan to self-revert, but the editor prefers WP:BRRD to WP:BRD. Unscintillating (talk) 01:18, 14 November 2014 (UTC)

BBS Branding
[edit]I don't believe CKCO used the BBS branding for the entire period between 1994-1997. It was either the 1995/96 or 1996/97 season that CKCO starting using the BBS branding. When the whole CTV/Baton merger was approved, it took effect in the late fall of 1997. CTV branding replaced much of the existing BBS identities except for news where BBS branding still remained at most CTV/Baton stations until the fall of 1998. I believe in CKCO's case, they reverted to using a non BBS identity for news for the 1997/98 season. It's possible CKCO never used BBS branding for their news but I really can't recall, I just know that the 1997/98 season they definitely were not using BBS branding for news. Unrelated to CKCO, nearby stations CKNX, CFPL and CHWI also stopped using BBS identities in the 1997/98 season except for news however they had a pending sale to CHUM that season and thus all of their programming began to be supplied by CHUM and carried a nearly identical schedule to that of CKVR.
