[edit]Why is the American flag backwards?? --Rebroad 21:33, 1 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- The same reason it is on the right-hand shoulder of a US military uniform; if it were attached to an imaginary standard and the plane moving forward, it would fly that way. On the obverse, it's placed the way you're more familiar with. The same would be true of any real flag seen from half the view when the wind is blowing. This is why most countries have symmetrical or near-symmetrical flags. ;)
This looks like a photoshop... --PrinceValium 18:44, 5 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- How so, now that you presumably understand the flag issue?

Second, This does look like a photoshop, im having a hard time beliving that any Piolot would have the guts to fly THAT close to a national landmark, and it also looks out of proportion Keeperoftheseal 01:32, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
The plane is far away from Mt. Rushmore, but so is the plane taking the picture the distortion is caused by the use of some sort of telephoto lens I think i really have no idea. Samnesral 22:02, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
I'm a photographer and it doesn't look like a photoshop to me, just some nice work with a long lens with a small aperture setting. check out the reflections on the underbelly of the plane, can see the outline of the mountaintop. Also, as an FYI, it looks like it was taken with flim. 82.46.179.159 01:08, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
Rhetorical question
[edit]I wonder just how much taxpayer money was spent on getting this shot. Razum2010 (talk) 03:53, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
Correct altitude of Mt Rushmore sculpture
[edit]The description of this picture says "It is 1,745 feet (532 m) above sea level.", but the Mt Rushmore page states "The entire memorial covers 1,278.45 acres (5.17 km2) and is 5,725 feet (1,745 m) above sea level." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 118.93.6.135 (talk) 23:39, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
- Removed redundant description from local page. Such a description should be on the Commons page, and not there on the English Wikipedia. Armbrust The Homunculus 15:32, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
