Australia's First Medal
[edit]In the artcle, Australia's first medal is said to be the Silver they won in Sydney, but they won Bronze in Atlanta, and possibly also at the 1998 worlds... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.148.38.105 (talk) 23:49, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Lauren's birthday
[edit]Her birthday is on May 11. It says her birthday on the very beginning of the first page. [[User:Poccil|Peter O. (Talk)]] 22:33, Oct 23, 2004 (UTC)
The official Athens Olympics site (www.athens2004.com; search under "athletes") gives her date of birth as May 11. Dale Arnett 07:17, 24 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- The vast majority of cites on the net (via google and yahoo searches) give her birthdate as May 11. November 5 is test limited to wiki and its mirrors. I think the proof is overwhelming that it is May 11. -Vina 19:54, 27 Oct 2004 (UTC) and how old is she?
Lauren's height
[edit]This article currently says 196 cm, but the 2006 Commonwealth Games site [1] says 195 cm (6'5"). Which is correct? Design 12:07, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
- Both, possibly, depending on what time of the day she was measured. Human height varies by more than a centimetre over the course of a day. --Robert Merkel 02:52, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
lauren is 6 foot 5
Parents names
[edit]Her parents names are Maree and Gary Jackson.
One edit expansion
[edit]It wasn't a one article expansion. Rather, it was drafted in User:LauraHale/Lauren Jackson. Need to get a history merge. --LauraHale (talk) 05:26, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

This is a great article with loads of references and verified sources. It is well written and could pass GA very easily and quickly if these following minor issues were addressed (they're mainly copy editing stuff). I'll be out in a bit so I will leave some comments later...
I've also noticed that you are going to be away for some time. I will therefore still review this GAN, but will put it on hold till 13 August or later, or whenever you can come to this review! ☠ Jaguar ☠ 18:43, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- I will be handling the task of correcting the article in response to your comments. Hawkeye7 (talk) 02:28, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
- OK, thank you! I will leave the comments now. ☠ Jaguar ☠ 16:42, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
Initial comments
[edit]As I said, this is a great article so this GA review could pass very quickly if these minor issues were addressed.
Personal
[edit]- I can't help but think that some parts of this section are not very encyclopedia-like. A few minor changes can help improve this:
- "Gary played for the Boomers in 1975. He is very tall, and Jackson inherited his height" - confusing sentence. 'Jackson' is referring to Lauren, isn't it?
- Always a problem in the opening paragraph of biographies. Re-worded. Hawkeye7 (talk) 02:58, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
- "Maree played for the Opals from 1974 to 1982." - could both Gary and Maree be both referred to as Lauren's father and mother respectively?
- Done. Hawkeye7 (talk) 02:58, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
Celebrity
[edit]- "Jackson has googled herself. When people google her, some of the first search results feature Jackson in the nude" - could this sentence be a little more formal? Something about this just doesn't read right...
- Dropped the first sentence. Re-worked the second slightly. Also ran a google search. Glad to report the nudie pix still appear. :) Hawkeye7 (talk) 03:03, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
- Yes I'm glad too! I think I might have checked that before the GA review! ☠ Jaguar ☠ 14:51, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

European basketball
[edit]- The image in this section needs a caption.
- Added caption. Hawkeye7 (talk) 03:03, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
Honours
[edit]- "In late 2011, the Albury Sports Stadium was renamed after her." - could this sentence explain where this statium is and what it was renamed to?
- It's in her home town of Albury. Re-worded. Hawkeye7 (talk) 02:29, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
- I read one of the refs and it said that Jackson opened the Lauren Jackson Sports Centre. Just wondering is this connected with the Albury Sports Stadium?
- Yes, they are one and the same. Re-worded to make this clear. Unfortunately, the article on the Lauren Jackson Sports Centre is a red link. Hawkeye7 (talk) 02:29, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
On hold
[edit]This is a very popular article that gains around 80,000 views a month! And especially when the Olympics are on just literally thirty miles away from me, there is much to applaud in this article as given the time and events link together very well. This article is written excellently, and once those very minor issues are addressed, this article could easily be rewarded its well deserved GA status! Very well done on the extra work. ☠ Jaguar ☠ 15:01, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
- We'll be over there in a couple of weeks to cover the Paralympics. Hawkeye7 (talk) 02:33, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
Close - promoted
[edit]There was really little work to do with this article to bring it up to GA, and together with the effort made by Hawkeye and LauraHale this article has speedily made it to GA. This has in fact been the best article I have ever reviewed; so many correct sources with excellent prose there was hardly any comments to be made! This is very impressive!
Enough talk then - this article has deserves its GA status once and for all. Well done! ☠ Jaguar ☠ 20:18, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
