Talk:Eastside, Los Angeles

The term "Eastside" as it has been used in the last 10 years is rather ethnically biased - it really means the farthest east neighborhoods in LA that have substantial populations of non-Latino whites. Still, it has become accepted in the last decade....

The only people who are really using the term are whites, I think its mostly transplanted westsiders who like Los Feliz and Griffith Park. Its still vague what communitys are a part of the eastside.

I live near the region described here, and I've never heard anyone refer to it as the Eastside, except for people who live on the Westside. And then they're not talking about just Los Feliz and Silver Lake - they're talking about everything east of La Brea. I don't think it's an accurate term, nor is it widely used, and it certainly isn't accepted by those who live here. If no one has objections in the next several days, I'll seriously alter this page - or redirect it to East LA or something. EmergentProperty 06:33, 17 July 2005 (UTC)

It has been widely used by the media since the early 1990s, so I don't think it should be deleted despite the ethnic baggage it contains - or at least originally contained. I do agree it is rather artificial. Prairie Dog

I third that. There's this artifical, inauthentic and rather transparent NPOV overlay on this article that reveals its true POV quite clearly. I think it should be redirected to East L.A. jengod 18:16, July 30, 2005 (UTC)
