[edit]the 2007 population estimate for knott county is 17,280 according to the united states census bureau at census.gov which also shows that the population trend in knott county has been a slow steady decline for many years however that was not in the article, also i have serious doubts about there being only 1 square mile of water in all of knott county, it just doesn't seem plausible with at least 5 large creeks one being a tributary to the kentucky river and a sizeable lake as well —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.157.10.33 (talk) 15:09, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
the statement "optimism runs greatly throughout the community as Judge Thompson has brought several great establishments to the area" seems heavily biased and probably doesn't reflect the attitude of the entire population of the county as judge randy thomspon is the first republican judge in a strongly democratic county. his election has continually been a source of controversy in knott county. as have the "great establishments" judge thompson supposedly brought to the area, the ATV center alone involved quite alot of arguing over property lines which were difficult to establish because strip mining has removed all the old boundaries mentioned in deeds made before the development of the mines, and changed the lay of the land a great deal.

Useful Historical Links
[edit]While trying to find information for Spider I found some links which might be useful.
https://scholarworks.moreheadstate.edu/kentucky_county_histories/index.10.html (This one contains historical documents for various counties in Kentucky so it might be useful to other pages as well)
https://webpmt.usps.gov/pmt007.cfm?PostOfficeCounty=Knott&stat_state_name=KENTUCKY
http://www.kykinfolk.org/knott/postmasters/ (Not sure how accurate this one is but the listings for Spider line up with some of the other documents)
I'm not really good with adding new citations and sources so I don't know how valid these links are, but hopefully they can help anyone trying to write these articles.

Speaking of history…
[edit]Someone needs to at least put a mention here about the deadly flooding that hit Knott County on July 28, 2022. The county was one of the hardest hit areas. West Virginia WXeditor (talk) 16:55, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
