William Shockley
[edit]While William Shockley's action did make Silicon Valley what it is today, it is ridiculous to say that he founded Silicon Valley and there is no precedent to say such a thing, so I have removed it. Hoerni's work
[edit]I question the necessity/relevance of the second sentence of the following: "With Noyce, Jack Kilby from Texas Instruments is usually credited with the invention of the integrated circuit, but Kilby's IC was based on Germanium. As it turns out, Silicon ICs have numerous advantages over germanium." This sentence is located in the Biography section of the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sharonsooyeon (talk • contribs) 07:02, 2 March 2017 (UTC)

Roommate of Hoerni’s grandson, John Hoerni
[edit]Hey, just want to let the page editors know I live with Hoerni’s heir and grandson, John Hoerni. He’s always telling stories of Jean Hoerni and, naturally, knows his family’s biography — I don’t know anything about silicon chips or computers in general, I had no idea who he was, but if anybody has questions for John or wants to confirm any biographical details, feel free to hit me up. John (and I) live in Silver Lake, LA — 3101 Fernwood, 90039 (which I’m adding by way of confirmation we live together — I take care of his dogs when he travels, which is why he rented out a room here). Birth and death dates/college degrees for Hoerni
[edit]The article has conflicting birth/death dates. The first sentence indicates he died in 1997 while the summary box to the right gives a much later death date. Also, the list of college degrees indicates he held an MD as well as a Ph.D. At least here in American "MD" implies a medical doctorate, but there is no discussion of him ever having gone to medical school. 172.58.45.254 (talk) 15:53, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
