Talk:Mahangu

- I beleive this should be merged with millet or a separate article on Pearl millet. We do not generally have articles on each language's name for a thing, we have one article under the English name. What language is this word in, by the way? Rmhermen 18:58, Dec 20, 2004 (UTC)
- I don't know what language it comes from, but the word appears to be used in Namibian English. Kappa 01:13, 21 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Is started to do the merge, but then backed reverted my changes, because I couldn't cleanly fit most of this information into pearl millet, but it seems a shame to throw away good material. As an alternative, I'm thinking about moving this article to Pearl millet in Namibia, and redirect mahangu to pearl millet. What do you think? — Pekinensis 20:34, 9 July 2005 (UTC)
- Moving to "Pearl millet in Namibia" may be the best alternative. Merging with "Pearl Millet" would result in a misbalance of information, requiring extensive addition of information to "pearl millet" to give a more balanced perspective. 14 Dec 2005
- Mahangu's word is associated with the local languange Oshiwambo/Oshindonga of northern Namibia and southern Angola. It is a more commonly grown and consumed in Namibia, due to its drier climate, as compared to Angola. Merging the entry with Pearl Millet would be most practical, maybe with an expansion with the contents of this entry, since someone has taken the time and energy making a separate entry.
- It seems to be common practice to add a section in the main article under a separate subheading in cases like this. I don't see any reason not to merge this into Pearl millet. Waitak 10:17, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
