Moved to wiktionary

[edit]

It should not be moved to Wiktionary. This is a very large investment banking business, and could be expanded on "ad infinitum". - Jerryseinfeld 19:25, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC).i

Underwriting is one of the most complex yet important aspects of the financial markets and financial institutions (insurance, banking, credit, real estate)... this artilce has not incorporated major concepts relevent to underwriting, such as: risk, risk selection, acutarial projection and modeling, float, and more. A professional with some experience needs to write this article and cite sources other than a newspaper. The "pawn broker" is not applicable. For property and casualty insurance, someone with a AI/CPCU designation should develop the article and for life insurance an accredited actuary should do it. JC
Maybe we should consider linking this article with the wiki page on Risk Management? JC —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.171.137.4 (talk) 19:52, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This article has a highly confusing start. It defines underwriting as "the process that a large financial service provider (bank, insurer, investment house) uses to assess the eligibility of a customer to receive their products", and then in the next paragraph launches into an explanation of securities underwriting, which is a different matter altogether. Ethnic Cleansing of Mexican Americans

[edit]

Is this really a conversation we’re having? Ethnic Cleansing is Serbian Rape Camps, or German Death Camps, what FDR did to Mexican Americans isn’t an “ethnic cleansing” and I feel it should be corrected. KillaMane (talk) 23:45, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
