Release Date of Bad Detective
[edit]I am trying to track down the precise release date for "Bad Detective" by New York Dolls (from their album Too Much Too Soon. Recording or composition date for each song would be ideal, but I'll settle for release date. How do you find the release date for 1974 songs? --Alecmconroy 13:24, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
Morissey wasn't president
[edit]In the documentary New York Doll, Morissey denies having been the president of the New York Dolls fan club. I have seen it before but don't have a copy, so if someone can verify this, I'd like to have the section under 'influence' that repeats this misconception deleted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.228.104.234 (talk • contribs) 08:27, 1 August 2006
Fan boy crap
[edit]For goodness sake this meant to be an encyclopedia not a fanzine. Is it any wonder that Wikipedia is held in such low regard when an article features bullshit like:
- incontestable classics of raw, protopunk, anything-goes rock and roll.
- endearingly motley "Top Cat"-like street gang,
- truly seminal squalls of proto-punk rock
- Halloween Party At The Old Warhol Place With whatever You Can Swipe From Your Girlfriend's Wardrobe.
- possessing verve, nerve and cheeky ideas aplenty.
- a series of funny, strutting, high-energy vignettes from the seamy New York underground.

Blackie Lawless
[edit]Blackie Lawless, born in 1956, was a "childhood friend" of Arthur Killer Kane, born in 1949?? Nah. 217.132.61.216 (talk) 21:18, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
Current pic
[edit]What is with Wikipedia and posting Current pics of bands who preformed decades ago? Sure they still get together, but shouldn't their picture be from their heyday? The one up looks like crap and they look half dead. I don't think it would be hard to find a PD picture of them, and their PR department (if such a thing exists) would be more then willing to send over a stock photo to use if someone asked. I'd do it my self but every edit I make gets reverted since I don't have an account and am prone to vandalism :-p 68.120.226.27 (talk) 05:50, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
- Not only is the photo too current, the photo of the New York Dolls should be the original band members. Since some of them are dead, an older photo is essential. I think it'd be great to have two photos, with a picture from the seventies at the top, and the current lineup below. (Their hits were from the original lineup, not the current group.) At any rate, I was wondering why there was a New York Dolls photo without Johnny Thunders. Gotmywaderson (talk) 21:02, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Nonsensical sentence needs rewrite
[edit]Under the heading "History: Dissolution: 1975–77", the last sentence of the second paragraph states "H after Thunders and Nolan left, until their final dissolution." Obviously the beginning of that sentence was truncated. Could someone resurrect its original content? Bricology (talk) 07:06, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
- Good catch, Bricology. I've fixed the sentence. — MShabazz Talk/Stalk 11:33, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
New York Dolls - "hard rock" and "glam rock"? Nonsense!
[edit]Actually New York Dolls is NOT a "hard rock" or "glam rock" band. Just a (proto-)punk band with transvestite look. Delete these tags!
- Not punk at all! That's a joke. Both a glam rock outfit and a bad Rolling Stones tribute band. "Mock Rock" as Whispering Bob Harris called their music. Acorrector (talk) 19:50, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
This article needs HEAVY editing to make it readable. I know a huge fan of the Dolls (who knew the 3 principals) and I'll ask him. Jeez, what a mess.
