Isn't this tagline redundant?
[edit]I really think that this tagline is redundant, because it can be easily deduced from logo of Wikipedia pages. I think it only makes articles more messy and adds no semantics to articles. What is the importance of this tagline? Isn't it better to remove that? Hooman Mallahzadeh (talk) 15:10, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Hooman Mallahzadeh No it is not. For one, the logo doesn't appear when you generate a print/export version (try the sidebar link to see). — xaosflux Talk 17:59, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Xaosflux It is useful in the case of print/export but it is redundant in the case of reading. Reading scenario is probably the scenario of more than 90% applications of Wikipedia pages. Isn't it better to remove this tagline by default so that make it appropriate for reading (main application) and find some mechanism for showing this tagline for print/export scenarios? Hooman Mallahzadeh (talk) 07:03, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
- For the largest intake of current causal readers, it is already removed (as the largest casual readers are on mobile and the Minerva skin doesn't include the tagline OR the logo). — xaosflux Talk 11:04, 5 August 2022 (UTC)

- The string is already wrapped in
<div id="siteSub">
[...]. Does that not work for a specific usecase? - (Also, note that some gadgets and userscripts attach to this div, such as Wikipedia:Metadata gadget.) Hope that helps. Quiddity (talk) 02:21, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
- I did not realize that. I looked at the page source text and didn't see any wrapper, so I assumed there wasn't one. Request withdrawn. Thank you so much for your help! HouseBlastertalk 03:30, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
