I think the President of South Africa (2009–2018) section should be split into a new page, Presidency of Jacob Zuma, in the vein of U.S. presidencies, for example. The section is large enough to stand alone and it would be nice to expand it with things that are more relevant to Zuma’s administration than to Zuma the man – in particular, various bits and pieces about alleged state capture under Zuma are sort of spread across different articles, and this would be a logical place to consolidate them. Also foreign relations and so on. Pinging @Lefcentreright and Discott:, who I know are active on SA politics wiki, for views. Happy to do the split and write out a generous summary to keep on this page. Jlalbion (talk) 16:53, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi i would edit the page to say Convicted criminal as his current role and not a politician, as he is a thief not a politician at current. 192.143.29.51 (talk) 10:50, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nevertheless, the section is misleading. It seems to imply that he was the 4th head of state of South Africa, which is not the case. He was the 4th President of South Africa (i.e. the article is technically correct) but there were many other heads of state prior to 1994 - referred to as "State President of South Africa". This may be rectified by the article reading as something along the lines of "He was the fourth President of South Africa following the end of Apartheid in 1994". 2C0F:F4C0:230C:8910:8D6A:EB14:49F:21A (talk) 12:50, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It might even be a good idea to add the exact number of heads of state that preceded him, e.g. "He was the 23rd head of state of the Republic of South Africa and the fourth President of South Africa following the end of Apartheid in 1994" - This would be much more clear and avoid the misconception that the Republic of South Africa was formed in 1994. It was not. The country was established in '61 and has existed continuously since then. The presidency as an office was created with the new constitution - the state was not. 2C0F:F4C0:230C:8910:8D6A:EB14:49F:21A (talk) 12:56, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
